There are many Greek songs that speak about migration. Greeks have always travelled, from Magna Grecia in the South of Italy at the 5th century a.c till the big migration of the 15th century after the fall of Konstantinople. From the ‘50’s that Greeks migrated to USA, Australia, Germany and Belgium till today that young people leave Greece to work in other countries.
A touching story about this will be performed by
Yiannis Efstathopoulos (guitar, voice) and Asimina Karamperopoulou (voice).
They present a migration panorama from the traditional songs of Asia Minor to the laïkó songs of Stelios Kazantidis and Vasilis Tsitsanis, from Manos Hadjidakis to Thanassis Papakonstantinou…
Yiannis Efstathopoulos and Asimina Karamperopoulou perform together the last 2 years. They collaborated with promising young Greek musicians in Brussels. Their project “Greek Songs of Migration” is a result of their own nostalgia for their homeland…
