World Press Photo Awards: Το 2018 σε εικόνες

Ο Ronaldo Schemidt (πρακτορείο AFP) ήταν ο μεγάλος νικητής για την φωτογραφία της χρονιάς στα 2018 World Press Photo of the Year Award που δόθηκαν την Πέμπτη 12 Απριλίου. Η φωτογραφία του με τον φλεγόμενο βενεζουελάνο διαδηλωτή αντικατοπτρίζει -σύμφωνα με την κριτική επιτροπή- την ίδια την χώρα, που «φλέγεται».

Άλλοι δύο φωτογράφοι του ίδιου πρακτορείου, ο Oliver Scarff, διακρίθηκε παίρνοντας το πρώτο βραβείο στην κατηγορία Sports-Singles, ενώ ο Juan Barreto από το Καράκας βραβεύθηκε στην κατηγορία Spot News-Stories.

Nature, 1st prize stories

Nature, 1st prize stories – To 1o βραβείο κατέλαβε φέτος η ιστορία του Tim Laman που περιλαμβάνει και αυτή την εντυπωσιακή, υψοφοβική λήψη στη ζούγκλα του Βόρνεο. Ο Tim Laman κατέγραψε τον ουρακοτάγκο να σκαρφαλώνει σε ένα γιγαντιαίο δέντρο στο Gunung Palung National Park. Όλο το πρότζεκτ του φωτογράφου ήταν αφιερωμένο στη ζωή των ουρακοτάγκων, τις απειλές που δέχεται το είδος, αλλά και το πώς ο άνθρωπος καταδιώκει και εξολοθρεύει τους φυσικούς βιότοπους των ζώων αυτών. Συνολικά φέτος υπήρχαν πάνω από 8000 υποψήφιες εικόνες που διεκδίκησαν διακρίσεις.

Ο Brent Stirton κατέγραψε τη διαδρομή και τον αιματηρό δρόμο του λαθρεμπορίου ελεφαντόδοτου που εμπλέκει αντάρτες, λαθροκυνηγούς, θηροφύλακες και πολλών εκατομμυρίων δολαρίων συμφέροντα.

Nature, 3rd prize stories

Πάνω από το 50% των ειδών χαμαιλέοντα του πλανήτη είναι συγκεντρωμένα στα τροπικά δάση της Μαδαγασκάρης, αλλά πολλά θα εξαφανιστούν μια και η καταστροφή των δασών είναι πια ανεξέλεγκτη. Το τρίτο βραβείο πήρε ο Christian Ziegler στην αποστολή του για το National Geographic.

Nature, 1st prize singles

Ένας πραγματικά θεαματικός σχηματισμός από σύννεφα δημιουργεί ένα ουράνιο τείχος στην παραλία Bondi στην Αυστραλία και δίνει στον Rohan Kelly το πρώτο βραβείο στα singles.

World Press Photo: οι φετινοί νικητές

Η προσφυγική κρίση, καθώς και οι πόλεμοι που μαίνονται στις περιοχές απ” όπου προέρχονται οι πρόσφυγες, αποτέλεσαν κατά κύριο λόγο την θεματική των φετινών βραβείων World Press Photo.

Νικήτρια φωτογραφία αναδείχτηκε αυτή του αυστραλού φωτορεπόρτερ Warren Richardson (κύρια φώτο του άρθρου), που δείχνει έναν πατέρα στην προσπάθειά του να περάσει τα σύνορα Σερβίας – Ουγγαρίας, κρατώντας στα χέρια του τον γιο του.

Συνολικά, 41 φωτογράφοι έλαβαν βραβείο, σε 8 διαφορετικές κατηγορίες. Οι κριτές είχαν να επιλέξουν ανάμεσα σε 82,951 φωτογραφίες που υποβλήθηκαν.

Ορισμένες από τις φωτογραφίες που διακρίθηκαν:

Francesco Zizola – μετανάστες αντικρίζουν για πρώτη φορά τις ιταλικές ακτές, σε πλοιάριο των Γιατρών Χωρίς Σύνορα.

Kevin Frayer – Κινέζοι εργάτες με φόντο τα εργοστάσια άνθρακα.

Mauricio Lima – Γιατρός περιποιείται τον Jacob που φέρει βαριά εγκαύματα ύστερα από έκρηξη, στην Hasaka της Συρίας, και υπό το βλέμμα του Κούρδου ηγέτη Αμπντουλάχ Οτσαλάν.

Sergey Ponomarev – Μετανάστες σε πορεία, συνοδεία αστυνομικών δυνάμεων, ενώ βαδίζουν προς καταυλισμό, κοντά στην Dobova της Σλοβενίας.
